The Book Nook
I haven't done as much reading as I would like to lately but I love Stephen King, Nora Roberts, True Crime & Self Help Books. Give me a bathtub full of hot scalding hot water, an ice cold drink and I could be in there for hours. I love to read and need to get back into it. It is something I have missed.
We're big on reading and it's something that was passed onto us through my Grandfather- he was an English Professor at U of Pitt. Probably one of the greatest gifts he gave to us. Nothing beats a good book.

Very cool! My mom was a teacher and also imparted reading to us. I learned to respect books from very early on. I started reading the Harry Potter series for some light reading when I was sick a few years back and now I admit, I'm hooked. Can't wait for #7 to come out! Recent ones I've done in last couple of years:
The Da Vinci Code- enjoyed it
The Templar Legacy- also good, similar excitement as The Da Vinci Code and an ancestor of ours was a templar
Phillipa Gregory novels- I read The Constant Princess, which was a fictional account of Catherine of Aragon, first wife to Henry VIII. He divorced her for Anne Boleyn. The author also has others about the Boleyn's, etc that kinda follow this period of history.
The Historian- ok, if you want a great, scary novel to read around Halloween, this is it! Exciting, historically-based fiction, about the Dracula legend- but so much more than that!!!
In Harm's Way- the story of the sinking of the Indianapolis, the ship which secretly delivered the bomb during WWII. They sank in shark-infested waters. It is gripping, interesting, not gory, and real. You will never read a book faster than this one!
Ghost Soldiers- about the rescue of survivors of the Bataan Death March by the first Rangers. Really good, book is better than the movie that just came out about this.
I'm starting The Princes of Ireland soon for the summer months and hopefully its sequel before Harry comes out. Just some suggestions!!!

Re: The Book Nook
My Mom loves, loves, loves the Harry Potter series. My boys loved the books as well.
She also loved the Di Vinci Code and was just completely shattered when she saw the movie- she said they really mangled it. So I have the movie but haven't watched it. I think I am going to read the book and then break the plastic on the movie case.

Re: The Book Nook
I still haven't seen the movie and actually, I'm ok with that. Definitely read the book first. Like Jurassic Park- saw the movie first, but the book was tons better and read Jurassic Park III and they butchered the movie compared to the book. Same thing with Timeline- awesome Michael Crichton book, but movie- blech! Some people called The da Vinci Code heretical, but I call it interesting and a "you never know" possibility. It was a fun read and really interesting. You won't be able to put it down. Also good from Dan Brown is Angels and Demons.

Re: The Book Nook
I actually enjoyed the movie of the DaVinci code - definitely would say the book is better, but I have found that to usually be the case - can't fit everything from a book into a 2 hour movie
my advice would be watch the movie first and enjoy it - then read the book
that way you won't be dissappointed by the movie ;)
but like I said I still enjoyed the movie even tho I read the book first - but maybe because it had been a while since I read the book before I saw the movie
I too love reading and haven't been doing so much of it lately - guess I haven't had much I have been anxious to read :p
I do love Harry Potter and am excited for the next book, but saddened it will be the end of the series :(
maybe I'll start that book I bought last year, about the life of Francis of Assisi - not really sure what made me buy it - just sounded possibly interesting at the time ;)

it's called Reluctant Saint (think the title helped grab me, that, and of course Francis being the patron saint of animals and his love for nature - and maybe my proximity to San Francisco) ;)
so - found it, maybe I will start reading this and let you know what I think ;)

Lost my motherinlaw is a huge Nora Roberts fan and she's got me hooked on her books too. I am just finishing off the Garden Trilogy.
